This week i did not attend but i found following the steps was extremely easy and capable of doing.
Below is a image of my mould after i sculpted.

  6. Cover scales in cling film
  7. Place measuring cup on to the scales and set as 0grams
  8. Apply gloves an using the correctly marked wooden stick measure out the number you need i.e 40grams of Silicone A - Amounts vary on size of sculpt.
  9. Wipe around A's tub, placing lid back on and remove gloves
  10. Once changed your gloves Measure silicone B, the exactly same amount you used for A.

  12. Pour over sculpt and wait to set. approx. 1hr
  13. Once set remove mould from sculpt.
  14. Clean your working station once you have finished.

Notes

During this week i learnt how to create a solid silicone mould. While watching the demonstration i wrote down step by step notes to help in future references. Waiting for the solid mould was time consuming. I wasn't so confident with this part as i felt i was left to get on with it, as i was a week behind everyone else. This will help in future references that i have to be there to be taught. Can't rely on someone to wait for me. I found after i had produced this i felt confident in my work and couldn't wait for the next step.

  5. Mix together and layer on to mould using brush. You can do this up to 3x.
  6. It will dry matte once ready.
  7. Measure 12grams of silicon A using the correct equipment an way. Don't contaminate.
  8. Do the same with Silicone B, 12grams.
  9. 60% of deadener to mixture, do this with new gloves and wooden stick.
  10. Mix well, there should be no air bubbles.
  11. This reacts very quickly so work fast.

  26. When removing your wound use pro-clean cleansing oil. Don't just rip off skin, May cause irritation.

Week four

Week four was pretty much a repeat of week three, various of other students were either behind or creating second moulds.

Notes

Last two weeks were stressful for me as i must of replayed each step twice, for some reason i found this part very challenging but i found that i have learnt, you have to work at a fast pace and know exactly what you are doing. As i missed the first two week i was behind and i felt i was left to do it by my self even though i had not seen the demonstrations completely.

Healthy and safety

I have done an individual post for this as i found it has an importance.

Week 5

Applying a bald cap; you'll need:

  • Hair Gel
  • Waterspray
  • Spirit Gum/Non shine spirit gum (optional)
  • Supracolour palette
  • Sponges
  • Acetone/alcohol/latex
  • brush
  • Pin tail comb
  • Bald Cap; Pre-impression bald cap - blend edges away with acetone
  •                  Woochi Cap - Layer Latex to create edges
  •                  Watermelon Cap blend edges away with Alcohol (IPA)

  1. Brush hair while spraying hair, make sure hair is extremely saturated.
  2. Rub hair gel into the hair and brush hair completely of face.
  3. Model may have stray hairs around the face, If so you can use soap scraping technique.
  4. Make sure hair gel is even on the hair, brush hair if not.
  5. Part hair down middle, if hair is long and wrap the hair around to the other side of head make sure hair is flat and tightly against scalp.
  6. Repeat for the other side.
  7. Make up can prevent cap from sticking so make sure no make up on the face before applying cap - use no moisturises just toning products.
  8. Using the wig technique of applying a stocking cap get the model to hold the front of the cap and pull the cap over the head and down the back.
  9. Cut away edges make sure you don't cut to near the hair line.
  10. CAUTION; working near eyes & eye brows. Be careful.
  11. Straight lines pick on camera, uneven is best.
  12. Cut away near the bottom of the ear and straight line up to the ear.
  13. Ears should be visible now.
  14. Place models head forward and pull the bald cap down when cutting the back of the neck.
  15. Front of the cap should be stuck down first.
  16. Roll the cap back, glue the edges waiting for the glue to go tacky and roll the cap back down.
  17. Add little pressure to the cap in order to make sure the cap is secure.
  18. Using the same technique work around the head.
  19. Using a cotton bud and the suitable product for the cap, melt away the edges.
  20. Grab a sponge and create a pink colour from your supra colour palette and dab the colour into the cap to get ride of the dark areas, where hair is noticeable.
  21. Using your alcohol activated palette, apply your textures and colours.
  22. Fullers earth can be used to create, patterns or texture.
  23. Mix product with water and apply to cap.
  24. You may use intense colour spray cans.

Below is a image from the demonstration given by Sue. Sue applied fullers earth and Charles Fox gold intense colour spray. This created a texture which would be recognised on camera.

Notes

Week Five i learnt the technique of applying a bald cap, I found this very intriguing but didn't know realise how long the process took. We was given this demonstration in order to be able to, if wanted to use the technique in our hybrid brief. This week will determine how i will go about my research of a human hybrid and if i decide use the bald cap technique.
